Trust Dissolves My Cancer Fears
A Lifelong Battle With Illness Takes a New Direction
Throughout my sixty-six years of life, I have encountered countless health challenges that have tested my resilience and determination. However, nothing compared to the moment I received a diagnosis of cancer. The gravity of this news settled upon me quickly, and I realized that every moment would require me to stand firm against this formidable opponent. Many might assume I was consumed by fear, yet paradoxically, I found myself feeling strangely calm and even hopeful when discussing my situation with the medical team. I believe I can overcome this. The care and treatment I received became instrumental in restoring my faith not only in medicine but in the compassionate individuals supporting me through this journey.
Family Support: The Foundation of My Strength
My younger brother and his wife provided unwavering encouragement and support that proved invaluable during my illness. Looking back, I can trace the roots of my current condition to an earlier surgical intervention. In June 2007, I underwent gallbladder removal surgery and was subsequently found to have cholecystitis hyperplasia. For approximately four years afterward, my physical condition remained stable, and I had no reason to suspect that cancer would eventually emerge.
The turning point arrived in October 2011, when I began experiencing recurrent, sharp pain in the upper right portion of my abdomen. Initially, I attempted to manage the discomfort on my own, reluctant to seek medical attention. My sister-in-law noticed changes in my behavior during her frequent visits and gently but firmly encouraged me to undergo diagnostic testing. The results revealed troubling findings: poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with evidence of metastasis to the liver.

Learning this diagnosis prompted my younger brother to arrange an immediate consultation in Singapore for a second medical opinion. Unfortunately, the evaluation in Singapore only confirmed the initial diagnosis: gallbladder stump cancer with spread to the liver. Rather than succumbing to despair, I approached this revelation with measured acceptance, focusing instead on strategies to minimize suffering and optimize my quality of life.
The Challenge of Conventional Chemotherapy
I resolved to pursue conventional chemotherapy treatment back in Bangladesh, undertaking a course consisting of six separate sessions. Each treatment session pushed my body to its limits. The toxic effects were severe and multifaceted: unrelenting nausea and vomiting, sudden hair loss, escalating pain levels, severe appetite suppression, and overwhelming nausea. Not a single day passed during this period when I did not contemplate abandoning the treatment regimen entirely. The physical and emotional toll became increasingly unbearable.
By May 2012, I could endure no longer. I made the difficult decision to discontinue the chemotherapy protocol. This choice plunged me into profound emotional turmoil. If I ceased treatment, my disease would advance rapidly. Conversely, if I persisted, the treatment itself might destroy my body without achieving the desired therapeutic outcome. I felt trapped between two impossible paths.
My brother, observing my mental and physical decline, embarked on an intensive search for alternative treatment approaches. His persistence paid off when he discovered an advertisement for Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou in a newspaper. After thoroughly researching the facility and its reputation, both he and my sister-in-law unanimously recommended that I travel to China for evaluation and care. My sister-in-law even volunteered to accompany me throughout the entire treatment journey and provide personal support.
Journey to China: A New Beginning

In June 2012, I traveled to Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou with my sister-in-law by my side. As we departed Bangladesh, my brother offered words of encouragement: “Have confidence in China! The people are genuinely kind, and their medical technology is truly advanced.” These words would prove prophetic.
Upon arrival at the hospital, I immediately shared with my attending physician, Dr. Sun Jun, my deep apprehension regarding additional chemotherapy. He responded reassuringly, explaining that their treatment methodologies diverged fundamentally from traditional chemotherapy approaches. Their techniques produced significantly fewer side effects while delivering superior therapeutic results. The hospital conducted comprehensive diagnostic imaging to fully characterize my condition: gallbladder stump cancer with metastatic involvement of the liver and left supraclavicular lymph node region.

Advanced Minimally Invasive Treatment
Dr. Sun Jun formulated a treatment strategy tailored specifically to my situation. He recommended radioactive particle implantation to address the cancerous lymph nodes in the left supraclavicular region and interventional embolism therapy to target the metastatic disease within the liver. Dr. Sun Jun emphasized that both procedures function by delivering concentrated therapeutic energy directly to cancerous tissues while preserving adjacent healthy cells, thereby eliminating the widespread cellular toxicity associated with conventional chemotherapy.
Both interventional procedures proceeded remarkably smoothly. To my astonishment, I experienced minimal discomfort throughout the operations. Even more significantly, follow-up imaging studies demonstrated that the tumors had undergone substantial regression. The results far exceeded my expectations.
Three months after the initial treatments, I returned to Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou for a scheduled follow-up evaluation and additional care in October 2012. The medical team performed additional therapeutic interventions, including radioactive particle implantation specifically targeting the hepatic metastases, radiofrequency ablation of cystic lesions adjacent to the liver, and complementary natural medicine therapies. I placed complete trust in the hospital’s treatment protocols and held genuine optimism that my health status would improve substantially.
A Renewed Sense of Hope and Healing
Throughout my hospitalization at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, I was continually struck by the warmth and professionalism of every staff member. Every face greeted me with a genuine smile. The nursing team demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and compassion at every turn. Never before had I experienced such a calming, supportive, and genuinely pleasant medical environment. I find myself repeatedly telling my brother and my friends back in Bangladesh about my conviction that my health will be fully restored through the excellent care provided at Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. China has already given me moments of profound joy and hope—and I believe the greatest part of my recovery story is still to come.
